Global IT outage update - Monday 22 July

The issues affecting the supplier that provides our chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments have now been resolved.

We want to thank our patients for being understanding and bearing with us and we apologise for any delays caused by this. Unless our teams contact you, please attend your appointment as planned. Throughout this incident, we have prioritised the most clinically urgent patients.

The Christie provides care and treatment for hundreds of people every day. The global IT outage last Friday (19 July 2024) affected many organisations but to put it into context, this affected less than a third of our patients.

Our staff have worked tirelessly over the weekend to deliver as many chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments as possible and continue to do so to catch up on rescheduled treatments this week.

Car parking

At The Christie, car parking for patients and visitors is currently free of charge.

Our car parks for patients and visitors are car park C (multi-storey) on Palatine Road (M20 3JJ) and car park D on Wilmslow Road (M20 3QH).

Car parks at The Christie

The on-site car parks at The Christie are consistently very busy. Due to this, you may not be able to find a parking space near the closest entrance to the department you require.

There is a drop-off point at the Oak Road entrance. If you want to drop off a patient who has mobility issues, you can do this here and then park in car park C or car park D. There are wheelchairs at this entrance.

The Trust cannot guarantee a car park space on site.

Car park D is open 24 hours a day. Car park C opens at 5:30am and closes at 10pm.

Staff car parking

The Trust has a number of staff car parking spaces across 4 staff car parks on the Withington site.

Staff members need to apply for a permit to park in the staff car parks. There is strict eligibility criteria based on a points system. Once your application is received, you will either receive your permit (valid from your first day of employment if you are a new starter and have applied in time) or join the waiting list.

Car parking permits are issued in the first week of the month based on the number of leavers/people who give back their permits in the previous month.

You can read further information on our staff intranet and see more about travel options for staff on our Staff travel page.
