Mr Wild is a core member of the advanced pelvic malignancy and peritoneal tumour service MDTs at The Christie. He specialises in the management of colorectal cancer, performing complex open and advanced laparoscopic surgery for primary, advanced and recurrent disease and cytoreductive surgery with heated intra-peritoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for peritoneal tumours and colorectal cancer metastases. He is a JAG accredited endoscopist.

Mr Wild is also an endoscopist at Mid-Cheshire NHSFT.

Professional biography

Mr Wild graduated from The University of Sheffield Medical School in 2004. He went on to complete his surgical training through the Yorkshire School of Surgery and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2017. During his postgraduate training, he completed a basic sciences PhD, Master in Law (Medical Law and Ethics) and a PGCert in Healthcare Leadership on the NHS Leadership Academy Mary Seacole Programme. In 2014, he was the first person to be awarded Membership to the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

After completion of higher surgical training, Mr Wild undertook further specialist training by undertaking a Royal College of Surgeons of England fellowship in laparoscopic colorectal surgery and advanced pelvic oncology at St James’s Hospital, Leeds and then a fellowship in peritoneal surface malignancy at The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin. He was awarded the 2018 ACPGBI/CSSANZ Travelling Fellowship to Australasia, visiting colorectal units in Sydney, Melbourne and Christchurch.

Research Interest

Mr Wild’s research interests span across both clinical and basic science. He completed a basic science PhD investigating the role dietary fibre and the enteroendocrine system in colorectal carcinogenesis and gut-nerve signalling, and as a trainee was heavily involved in the establishment of the surgical trainee-led research collaborative network, both regionally and nationally.

Educational Interests

Mr Wild is active in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, and is a faculty member on numerous surgical training courses. He is an honorary senior lecturer at Edgehill University (MCh programme), member of the RCSEd Faculty of Surgical Trainers and a JAG approved endoscopy trainer.
