Professional biography

Vijay Ramani has been appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at University Hospital South Manchester and The Christie, Manchester since 1999. His specialist interest is in prostate, bladder, renal, testis and complex pelvic and retroperitoneal cancers. He is a member of the Northwest Robotic Group and has also been responsible for the advancement of robotic surgery at The Christie, leading the introduction of a second Da Vinci robot in 2015.

Mr Ramani regularly undertakes robot assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy on patients with localised adenocarcinoma prostate. His other specialist operations including radical cystectomy and neobladder reconstruction, robotic partial nephrectomy for small renal tumours, radical nephrectomy and complex inferior vena cava surgery. He also undertakes surgery for testis cancer including primary orchidectomy and retroperitoneal lymph node dissection. He is a Lecturer of the European School of Urology and has given international lectures on Urological cancers and regularly recruits patients to trials through the specialist MDT set up.
