Professional biography

Deemesh Oudit graduated from medical school in 1996 and has more than 13 years' experience in plastic surgery. He was appointed a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2002 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Plastic Surgery) in 2010.

He has contributed significantly to the plastic surgery literature with a number of publications in top journals. He has presented papers at national and international meetings, has developed an international reputation in the field of Plastic Surgery and is the author of a plastic surgery iBook, Local Flaps in Plastic Surgery.

Mr Oudit is the organiser of and has chaired the Manchester Melanoma Surgery Meeting. This is a national melanoma meeting held in collaboration with the Christie School of Oncology and supported by the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (BAPRAS).

Mr Oudit specializes in the full range of treatment of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers (basal cell carcinomas, squamous cell carcinomas and Merkel cell carcinomas). In the field of melanoma surgery at The Christie, Mr Oudit has pioneered ileo-inguinal dissections for advanced cases of melanomas. He is also involved in a multi-disciplinary clinic for patients with Gorlin's syndrome. He is currently setting up a lymphoedema surgery service at The Christie, using advanced techniques in microsurgery.

Mr Oudit also frequently carries out surgical procedures in gynaecological and perineal reconstruction.
