Research and teaching

We are passionate about enabling people to return to their best speech, voice and swallowing function following cancer treatment.

Our current research, audit and clinical interests are connected to providing earlier access to outpatient speech therapy services and improving swallowing outcomes for people undergoing cancer treatment to the region of the head and neck. We have recently supported a Health Education England Speech therapy intern to undertake a project with the Christie School of Oncology on site.

We are currently undertaking a  Macmillan/Manchester Cancer Living With and Beyond Cancer Innovation Fund  service evaluation to guide our future service delivery

We deliver regular teaching to the University of Manchester School of Nursing,  Foundations In Cancer Care course.

We regularly support speech therapy undergraduates on placements from both Manchester Universities and provide teaching and lectures internally and externally to the Trust.
