IT incident update – 28 March 2024

Following the IT outage we suffered yesterday (Wednesday 27 March), the majority of our systems have now been restored overnight.

The Christie Hotline (0161 446 3658) and switchboard (0161 446 3000) are working so patients can contact us as normal in this way.

We will continue to post information on the Trust website and social media channels with any further updates as necessary.

If you are attending for an appointment today, please bring with you information about your treatment, past medical history and medications which will help our staff should any systems still be slow. We apologise for any delays that this incident may cause to your care and treatment.

Physiotherapy service for proton beam therapy patients

Keeping active and exercising during and after your proton beam therapy treatment can be very beneficial.

The physiotherapy service helps patients stay physically active throughout all stages of their treatment.

This may include:

  • Specific rehabilitation to maximise function during and after treatment
  • Personal exercise programmes to maintain or regain strength or flexibility, or to improve balance and coordination
  • Supervised use of the gym including exercise classes
  • Addressing any mobility problems and providing equipment as necessary
  • Providing advice on maintaining a healthy lifestyle during treatment
  • Helping patients continue their activity when they are at home e.g. signposting to local gyms and sports groups and referring to local services

The physiotherapy service is available to both inpatients and outpatients aged 16 and over, both during and after treatment.
