The clinical nurse specialist team at The Christie Colorectal and Peritoneal Oncology Centre (CPOC) provide a bowel cancer networking group. This is for patients, their relatives and carers to attend both before and after cancer surgery.
The bowel cancer networking group offers emotional support and information, provides the opportunity to meet other people who have had similar treatment and also offers input from clinical nurse specialists and other health professionals as guest speakers.
The sessions have included talks from The Christie physiotherapists about getting back into exercise following treatment, including a Pilates session, a session surrounding fatigue management and support from our stoma care team as well as guest patient speakers sharing their cancer journeys.

“It was lovely to see you last week at the support group. Although I was very nervous at the time, I really enjoyed it - being able to meet the other people there was so great and I'm looking forward to hopefully getting to know everybody more in the future” - Patient testimonial
