Cancer Vanguard

CPCR are currently contributing to three workstreams of the Greater Manchester Cancer Vanguard, an innovative initiative to transform cancer care.

• Cancer prevention, screening and early detection: creating a citizen-led social movement focused on cancer prevention so that members of the public can spread prevention messages throughout their communities and support people to make and maintain healthy behaviour choices. To find out more about becoming a cancer champion, click here.
• Cancer education: the development of an e-Learning resource for GPs to help doctors identify potential cancer symptoms and make the referral system more efficient. The platform is currently being piloted in Manchester and London before it is rolled out more widely in the summer of 2017.
• Living with and beyond cancer and supportive care: the development of a decision aid/package that will support advanced cancer patients in making decisions about their further treatment based on a shared understanding between professionals, patients and their families of the patient's goals for their own care. The first prototype of the decision aid is currently being piloted with three cancer groups at The Christie.
