Maggie Harris, consultant in clinical oncology

Maggie Harris is the winner of The Christie’s You Made a Difference Award for May 2024. The following comments were made about Maggie in the May nominations.

The judges picked Maggie out as a very deserving winner and said that the comments made about her showed how she represented The Christie values and behaviours.

“Maggie is a consultant in clinical oncology specialising in lymphoma and lung cancer across Tameside and at the Withington site. She started at the Trust in June 2003.

“Maggie goes above and beyond for all her patients, her professional and caring nature towards her patients and colleagues is a valued quality Maggie has and is an advocate for the Trust values and a pleasure to work with.

“Maggie always has a smile and is always approachable. You often seen her in her cycling attire coming into work and many times in the week does not leave until late. I am really pleased Maggie’s care towards her patients has been recognised”.

  - Susie Kilday, Clinical services manager, Networked Services

“Dr Harris has been treating me now for over 6 years. I am treated at other hospitals for other illnesses, and none can compete with the care you get from Dr Harris. She has exceptional empathy and care. She treats you as a whole person not a disease.

Staff in the hospital always say to me that she is the most caring consultant in the hospital, which is a great accolade from your colleagues, and I am sure all her patients would agree with this too.
