Professional biography
Dr Howells graduated in Medicine from the University of Exeter in 2012. He subsequently undertook postgraduate training across hospitals in the Northwest of England, completing specialist training and achieving dual CCTs in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine in February 2026.
During his training, Dr Howells developed a particular interest in pre-hospital and retrieval medicine. He worked as a Critical Care Flight Doctor, gaining experience in the assessment, stabilisation and transfer of critically unwell patients, and led the development of safer pathways for the repatriation of critically ill patients.
His clinical interests include the management of critically unwell patients, perioperative care and the delivery of safe, high-quality anaesthesia. He is particularly committed to patient safety and providing calm, individualised care throughout the surgical journey.
