Preparatory work for a major refurbishment of the Christie restaurant will begin soon. The project will modernise the space, improve customer flow and create a more comfortable environment for patients, visitors and colleagues.

What will happen first?

Early preparatory work will begin in late June, including cable routing and temporary power installation to support the main construction activity.

This will include:

  • Saturday 4 to Sunday 5 July: electrical and data installations for the temporary pay point, and relocation of the pay point and tills
  • Friday 10 July to Sunday 12 July: hoardings installed around the construction area, and installation of temporary servery
  • Monday 13 July: formal construction works planned to begin

What you may notice

During the refurbishment, there will be temporary changes around the restaurant, including:

  • revised access routes and movement around the area
  • relocated tills and pay points
  • hoardings around the construction zone
  • temporary catering arrangements
  • a reduced menu offer at times
  • longer food transport times to some service areas because of changed routes and working zones

These arrangements are necessary to ensure the work is completed safely while maintaining the catering service.

What the refurbishment will deliver

The refurbishment will create a brighter, more welcoming restaurant with additional seating, improved service flow, and a better experience for patients, visitors, and colleagues.
