We accept referrals from across the UK and work closely with regional partners to make the referral process as smooth as possible. The information below explains how patients can be referred to our specialist penile cancer service.

NHS referrals in England

Most patients in England will be referred either by their GP for a second opinion, or by a clinician involved in their care at their local hospital, such as a urologist or oncologist.

Where to send referrals to The Christie

Referrals to The Christie penile cancer service will only be accepted from secondary care. Referrals should be sent by email to The-christie.new-referrals@nhs.net

Once we receive the referral, we will acknowledge it in writing. Our administrative team will gather all relevant information so the specialist team can review the case and provide advice or arrange an appointment.

Wirral, Cheshire and Mersey referrals

For patients registered with a GP in Wirral, Cheshire and Mersey, and suspected penile cancer, GPs can refer directly under the 2-week wait pathway to Mr A S Parnham, Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Urgent 2-week wait referrals should be sent to wuth.urgentreferrals@nhs.net

This direct pathway helps ensure patients in the Wirral, Cheshire and Mersey area are seen quickly by a specialist penile cancer surgeon and team.

Referrals from other UK regions

Patients from Northern Ireland require additional local approval before we can offer an opinion or treatment.

Patients from Scotland may also require additional approval for certain conditions.

If there is any uncertainty about approval or referral routes, our team is happy to advise.
