Jaqueline Mellody – also known as Jacqui – is the winner of The Christie’s You Made a Difference Award for April 2025.
The following comments were made about Jacqui in the April nominations. Judges picked Jacqui out as a very deserving winner and said that the comments made about her showed how she represents The Christie values and behaviours.
“Jacqui is a clinical research nurse in the melanoma team – supporting the team in performing research related activities from study set-up through to completion of studies. Including patient recruitment and delivery and management of trial treatments and quality care to our patients. She has been pivotal in establishing the melanoma support group, and she supports patient engagement across the Trust.
“Jacqueline joined The Christie in April 2009 as a staff nurse on ward 11 to and left in November 2014 to work at Salford Royal. She returned in February 2016 as a Staff Nurse in the clinical research facility and in August 2017, Jacqui joined the melanoma team as a clinical research nurse. In October 2023, she retired and returned as a clinical research nurse in melanoma, working 3 days a week.
“She loves swimming – even in the cold water, bike riding, and music – her favourite band is Inhaler. She loves her family and her adorable grandchildren are her world, and she always make sure she spends time with them when she is not at work.”

“My mum has been treated by all the amazing melanoma research team for the last 3 and a half years. Jacqui was our allocated CNS from the start and what a difference she has made to our journey. Care, love, compassion, and knowledge in abundance and always on the end of the phone or email when you need her despite having, I am sure a huge number of patients on her caseload.
“Jacqui has provided that constant which is so important and needed when patients are on this journey, to know somebody knows you and your health and history is invaluable. Her personality shines at every visit and she is amazing at sharing stories and her own life to lighten difficult times. I am sure we would have felt completely lost many times without Jacqui and this role is so needed and so valuable to people.
