With the calming waters of Salford Quays below and the incredible views of Manchester City Centre, this is the perfect location to zip slide. Feel the breeze through your hair as you’re lifted 40m in the air before soaring 1,000ft from the Imperial War Museum North across the canal to MediaCityUK.

The Christie Zip Slide 2022 will take place between 10am and 5pm on Saturday 16 July. You can choose your time slot when you book.  

This is the perfect event for thrill seekers who are looking for a new challenge and by taking part you will help ensure we continue to provide world class cancer care and remain at the forefront of pioneering cancer research.

Please note: we need your minimum sponsorship no more than 1 month after your zip slide event. For the 16 July 2022 event, this means you'll need to send your sponsorship money by 16 August 2022.

By participating in The Christie Zip Slide in aid of The Christie Charity (Registered charity no. 1049751), you are deemed to have agreed to the following Terms and Conditions:

  • By providing your details we will contact you by email, telephone and mail about your fundraising and your participation in relation to the event.
  • You are agreeing to raise a minimum of £125 in sponsorship (excluding Gift Aid), to be received by The Christie Charity no later than four weeks after the event has taken place.
  • Participants should be satisfied that they are fit to take part before entering the event. If you have any doubts, please refer to your GP. If any of the following apply, you must seek professional medical advice before participating and sign a non-standard waiver:
    • High blood pressure
    • Heart condition
    • Suffer from dizziness or epilepsy
    • Damage to neck, back, spinal column, legs or eyes
    • Asthma
    • Medication – if you are taking any form of prescribed medication, please inform us of how this may affect you
    • Aged 50 years or above 
  • Participants should be satisfied that they are under the weight limit of 110kg (17.3 stone) and fit the harness size of 40cm (15.7 inches) to 125cm (49.2 inches)
  • Participants must be over the age of 10. Participants aged 10 to 15 years old require a parent or guardian to be present, sign permission and will be required to complete a non-standard waiver
  • Participants must not be under the influence of alcohol or any other substances.
  • Participants are unable to take part if they are pregnant.
  • Participants agree that they are willing to ride in a man basket to the zip height of up to 150ft.
  • You permit The Christie to use any photographs taken during the event for any advertising or editorial purposes, including on the internet.
  • You accept that The Christie Charity and/ or any other event partners, are not liable for your possessions during the event.
  • Your safety, and that of everyone else at the event, is of paramount importance to us. The Christie and Big Bang Promotions will take reasonable care to ensure that the event is conducted in a safe manner, but liability cannot be accepted for any damage, injury or loss arising from the negligence of participants (whether through failure to observe the rules of the event or otherwise).
  • If The Christie Zip Slide is delayed or cancelled due to a situation beyond our control, we will try to re arrange the event to take place at a later date but cannot guarantee this will happen. Registration fees will be non-refundable under these circumstances.
  • If The Christie Zip Slide is cancelled by The Christie Charity or Big Bang Promotions due poor weather conditions which would mean The Christie Zip Slide is unable to take place as originally planned, we will try to rearrange the event to take place on an alternative date, but we cannot guarantee this will happen. If we are unable to rearrange another date you will be able to request a refund or kindly gift your registration fee to The Christie Charity.
  • If The Christie Zip Slide is cancelled by The Christie Charity or Big Bang Promotions due to restrictions imposed by the Government registration Covid-19 or its variants, which would mean The Christie Zip Slide is unable to take place as originally planned, we will try to rearrange the event to take place on an alternative date, but we cannot guarantee this will happen. If we are unable to rearrange another date you will be able to request a refund or kindly gift your registration fee to The Christie Charity.
  • If on the date of The Christie Zip Slide you are displaying symptoms of COVID-19 and/or are in the possession of a positive COVID-19 test, and/or you are self-isolating, you agree you will not attend the event and lose your registration fee.
    While you’re no longer required by law to self-isolate if you have COVID-19, the Government advice is to stay at home, self-isolate and avoid contact with other people. This helps reduce the chance of passing COVID-19 on to others.
  • The Christie Charity reserves the right to make changes to these Terms and Conditions where necessary from time to time.
  • We value your support and promise to respect your privacy. By providing your personal information you agree to us recording your details on our database, so we can provide you with the best possible support every time you contact us. We will also contact you from time to time by phone, email, text or post to tell you about how we can support you and how you can get involved with our team. Your details will be kept securely and only shared with our suppliers or partners who work on our behalf or with us to deliver and improve services for people affected by cancer. We never sell or swap your details with third parties. What is The Christie Zip Slide?
The Christie Zip Slide is a 1,000 feet zip at MediaCityUK. It will be held on Saturday 16 July 2022. Money raised from the event goes to support The Christie charity. 

What is the distance of The Christie Zip Slide?
You will zip slide 1,000 feet from IWM North across the canal landing in the piazza at MediaCityUK. 

What height will I zip slide from?
The crane height will be approximately 40m high. 

How much does The Christie Zip Slide cost?
The registration fee is £15 and we ask every participant to raise a minimum of £125 for The Christie charity. 

Is my registration fee for The Christie Zip Slide refundable?
If the event is cancelled due to a situation beyond our control or if you are unable to attend due to self-isolating or a positive COVID-19 result, your registration fee will be non-refundable. 

If the event is cancelled by The Christie due to concern or restriction imposed by the Government regarding COVID-19 which would mean the event in unable to take place, we will try to arrange the event to take place at a later date, but we cannot guarantee this will happen. If we are unable to rearrange another date, we will refund your registration fee. 

What is included in the registration fee for The Christie Zip Slide?
Your registration fee includes a Christie Charity t-shirt and finishers medal. 

Do I have to fundraise for The Christie Zip Slide?
All participants are asked to fundraise a minimum of £125. Get in touch with a member of our events team if you would like any fundraising materials or need any advice – we are here to help! 

Who can take part in The Christie Zip Slide?

Who will be training me and supervising me at The Christie Zip Slide?
The day is being run by event professionals Big Bang Promotions.  Their fully trained technicians will supervise all elements of the day to ensure your zip slide is safe and enjoyable. 

Can I bring spectators?
Yes, you’re welcome to bring spectators.

Can I change my start time?
There are a limited number of places in each start time and due to health and safety reasons we must stick to those numbers. You can request to change your start time ahead of the event but start times will not be changed on event day.

When should I arrive?
You should arrive 30 minutes before your start time. This will give you plenty of time to register.

How long will the event last?
We endeavour for all participants to complete their challenge within an hour of their allocated start time. Please note that you should arrive 30 minutes before your start time in order to register for the event.

How do I get there?
By tram
: trams run to and from Manchester City Centre every 12 minutes and to and from Broadway on the Eccles line every 12 minutes. Check the TFGM website for details of Metrolink's Park and Ride car parks across Greater Manchester.

By train: The MediaCityUK tram service provides easy connections to national rail stations at Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Victoria and Deansgate. Salford Crescent Station is also directly connected to MediaCityUK via the CityConnect 50 bus service. 

By car: MediaCityUK is a 2-minute drive from the national motorway network (M602) and a 10-minute drive from Manchester City Centre. Postcode for satnav is M50 2EQ.

Our team are currently following all advice issued by the government regarding COVID-19.
