How we are governed

The Christie Charity supports the development of cancer prevention, treatment, research and education through investment in staff, equipment, facilities and other support services. We do this by making grants to The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, and, occasionally to other related bodies.

The Charity trustees are responsible for the overall management of the charity, and is required, amongst other responsibilities, to:

  • Manage the investment of funds in accordance with the Trustees Act 2000.
  • Ensure that funding decisions are appropriate, consistent with our aims, and provide added value and benefit to patients and staff of the Trust, above those afforded by NHS funds.

For more information about the ethical issues and social responsibility within fundraising, read our Ethical Policy.
