Research has the power to transform patients’ lives – and by donating today, you can help Christie experts go further for cancer patients.

£30 million for research by 2030

Christie Charity supporters like you are already helping clinicians see cancer with more clarity than ever. Thanks to our supporters, we have invested in a state-of-the-art proton beam therapy research room – together with game-changing equipment including a robotic arm and special microscopes.

We've also invested in an MR-linac with the help of Christie Charity supporters. Our MR-linac lets clinicians see tumours more clearly, and target them more accurately. By avoiding healthy tissue around the tumour, it means stronger X-rays can be used for even more effective treatment for patients.

That’s why we have pledged to make a transformational £30 million investment in research at The Christie by 2030. It will help deliver The Christie’s vision to learn from every patient and to treble the number of patients taking part in research. With the Paterson building, one of the world’s leading cancer research centres, on site too – Christie experts could progress research at a scale and speed never seen before.

Donate today and help fund the research that brings the next breakthrough into focus.

TARGET National is also helping us to seek new ways of treating cancer. The Christie Charity is helping to fund this groundbreaking, UK-wide cancer study which has a focus on personalised medicine.

It is innovative because doctors are discovering a range of information about patients’ tumours through a simple blood test.

By analysing traces of the cancer’s DNA in the blood, they can see genetic mutations which drive the disease. It means they can choose therapies which target those weaknesses directly.

Known as molecular profiling, it is the future of cancer treatment. This is because we can give patients smarter, more precise and specific cancer care – to help improve their outcomes and their quality of life.

TARGET National is helping real Christie patients today – patients like Pamela. After her cervical cancer came back, further treatment options were limited. But since joining the TARGET National study, her tumours have shrunk in size and she is no longer suffering from any symptoms. Read Pamela’s story to find out how your donation could help Christie patients.
