This month, we’re putting Amanda White into our fundraiser Hall of Fame for taking on a nonstop 6-hour circuit event for The Christie Charity.
Amanda first started supporting The Christie Charity after her sister Janine was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin lymphoma in December 2024. Janine was referred to The Christie for chemotherapy and radiotherapy. After finishing her treatment, Janine also received some additional counselling support at The Christie.
Although Amanda and her family were obviously heartbroken at the news of Janine’s diagnosis, they were so grateful for her treatment at The Christie. Amanda wanted something good to come of her sister’s cancer treatment, so she decided to raise money for The Christie Charity.
Amanda organised a 6-hour circuit marathon for 10 May 2025. The circuit event took place at the Body Hub studio in Wilmslow, with Amanda doing circuits every hour from 11am to 5pm. 54 different people came to join her for circuits throughout the day, paying £10 to do so, but it was only Amanda, her partner Leon and their friend from the gym Alex who kept going for the gruelling 6 hours.
A lot of other people came down to support the circuit participants, with a charity raffle based outside the event to boost fundraising. Amanda’s daughter and her friends sold hundreds of tickets, with raffle prizes donated by local businesses.
“Everyone knows somebody who in one way or another has been impacted by cancer, but when it is someone so close to you, you can physically feel your heart aching.
