Pareto, Christie supporters

“Choosing The Christie Charity as our charity partner has had a genuinely positive impact on our business… Taking part in team events together has created a meaningful shared experience for colleagues.”

Pareto, an independent financial advice company based in Manchester, chose The Christie Charity as their charity of the year for 2025. A charity of the year partnership with The Christie Charity is a fantastic way for businesses to engage their colleagues in fun activities and events, working together to raise vital funds that will change the lives of cancer patients both now and in the future.

More than half of the Pareto workforce voted for The Christie Charity as their charity of the year. One reason the Pareto staff were so supportive of The Christie Charity is that they had several personal connections to The Christie hospital, including staff member Olivia O'Neill. Olivia, an employee benefits administrator at Pareto, was previously diagnosed with a brain tumour. She received proton beam therapy at The Christie and her cancer is now in remission.

“The Christie isn’t just a hospital, it truly puts its patients first and from building close relationships over the course of my treatment, I could just see how the patient is at the forefront of everything they are doing.

“The Pareto partnership with The Christie is an amazing opportunity, as funding for the scanning centre will allow more patients to be seen, meaning quicker results and quicker diagnosis – which is truly amazing, because it means less and less people will be feeling that anxiety.

I am just forever thankful for The Christie, and for how they have changed my life. When I was first diagnosed at 16, it felt like everything was snatched away, but this amazing hospital and charity has in essence, given me my life back, and I will forever be grateful.

Throughout 2025, staff from Pareto took on a range of challenges for The Christie Charity, from running events like the Manchester 10K, Manchester Marathon and the Bologna Marathon to more relaxed fundraising events like a Christmas jumper day, raffles and a ‘Great Pareto Bake Off’.

The team at Pareto said the hardest fundraising challenge they took on for The Christie Charity was a charity skydive, with some participants finding it really daunting. But although it was the most challenging fundraiser, some people said they would definitely do it again and it raised the most amount of money out of all of Pareto’s fundraising challenges.

Pareto had such a positive experience supporting The Christie Charity that they chose them as their charity of the year for a second time in 2026. They’ve already got their plans for what they’re doing to support The Christie Charity this year, with a mix of large-scale challenges and smaller, more accessible activities, ensuring that all colleagues can get involved in a way that suits them.

“Choosing The Christie Charity as our charity partner has had a genuinely positive impact on our business. Having a 2-year partnership has allowed us to maximise our impact, build a strong connection with our chosen charity, and really understand the difference our fundraising makes.

“Taking part in team events together has created a meaningful shared experience for colleagues, strengthening team camaraderie, reinforcing our commitment to corporate social responsibility, and creating memories that last long after the events themselves, all while raising money for an incredible cause.

Like many organisations, many of our colleagues have been touched by cancer in some way. We also recognise how fortunate we are to have The Christie close by, particularly when we know that so many people have to travel significant distances to receive the specialist treatment and care they provide.

In 2025, Pareto set themselves a fundraising target of £12,000. They smashed this, raising over an amazing £15,000. They’re hoping to go even further this year and we’d like to say a really big thank you for all of the team’s fundraising efforts so far.
