What to expect
This half-day interactive workshop builds confidence in communicating with people who are distressed, worried or upset.
You’ll learn essential communication techniques and practise how to use them in a structured way, guiding conversations with empathy from beginning to end.
Through demonstrations, discussion and small-group work, you’ll explore how effective communication can support both patient experience and staff wellbeing.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
- Use a structured framework to guide conversations with empathy and confidence
- Apply active listening and questioning skills to respond effectively to distress
- Recognise the benefits of good communication for both patients and teams
- Share learning with colleagues to enhance teamwork and patient experience
