Hayley and Monika decided to raise money for The Christie Charity in support of Hayley’s friend Giselle, a current patient at The Christie hospital.
Giselle was first diagnosed with lymphoma when she was 21. She had treatment for this, and the cancer went into remission. Sadly, when Giselle was in her 40s, she was diagnosed with 2 new types of lymphoma, one of which was untreatable.
After having chemotherapy and a stem cell treatment at a couple of hospitals, Giselle was referred to The Christie for CAR T-cell therapy. Hayley said Giselle feels incredibly well supported at The Christie and is being cared for the whole of her clinical team.
To say thanks for Giselle’s treatment at The Christie, Hayley and Monika are taking on the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride on Sunday 13 July 2025 to raise money for The Christie Charity.
Starting at Lowry Theatre Plaza at Salford Quays, the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride takes in the scenic country lanes of Lancashire and finishes beneath the iconic Glitterball on Blackpool’s South Promenade. The 60-mile bike ride is renowned for its fantastic carnival atmosphere.
In fact, 12 years ago, Giselle and Hayley took part in a night-time charity cycle from Manchester to Blackpool. Hayley and Monika are now training hard for the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride and hope Giselle will be well enough to meet them at Blackpool Tower at the end.
“Giselle has had cancer treatment in other hospitals but from the moment she arrived at The Christie she has felt incredibly well supported and cared for across the entire team.
