Beverley Fernandez, Christie fundraiser

This March, Beverley Fernandez will be taking on The Christie zip slide challenge. Beverley decided to take part in the challenge in memory of her son Elliott, who sadly passed away from alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma 3 years ago.

Beverley said: “My 19 year old only son Elliott passed away from alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma just 3 years ago after an heroic 11 month battle with this monster.

“He’d be rolling his eyes and saying ‘OMG mum what are you doing?’ He wanted to find a cure. He can’t but I will channel his bravery and strength through myself into doing whatever I can to help to do just that.

“No parent should bury their child and every single person fighting any type of cancer deserves a chance and more research is desperately needed.

“Let’s make this happen as quickly as we can so that no parent has to suffer this or any other family loses a loved one to cancer of any type.”

We would like to say a huge thank you to Beverley for her support. The Christie charity only exists because of all our fantastic support from all our amazing fundraisers. However you decide to support us - giving your time, fundraising or including a gift in your Will - we are truly grateful.

If you’d like to join Beverley at the zip slide in March 2020, you can register for the zip slide challenge now.
