This Christmas, St. John's Gardens will be transformed into a breathtaking display of love, light and remembrance from Saturday 5 to Friday 18 December 2026.

The Garden of Hope is a beautiful immersive light installation. The installation is made up of hundreds of pre-lit white roses – each carrying a personal dedication to someone special.

From Saturday 5 to Friday 18 December 2026, these glowing tributes will create a peaceful sanctuary in the heart of Manchester, celebrating the lives of loved ones touched by cancer and offering a place to pause, reflect and remember.

Every dedication helps raise vital funds to build a new scanning centre at The Christie.

The current scanning centre at The Christie was built in 1980. We urgently need to build a fit-for-purpose, modern scanning centre to give clinicians at The Christie access to the latest scanning technology. Advanced imaging allows experts to better understand the full extent of a patient’s disease, plan treatment more precisely, monitor progress and improve outcomes.

The new scanning centre will provide an enhanced space, improved patient experience and access to cutting-edge equipment. This will be capable of supporting research which will transform the future of cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Whether you're remembering someone you've lost, honouring someone living with cancer or simply showing your support, everyone is welcome to visit the Garden of Hope throughout the festive season.

Dedicate a rose

When bookings open, you'll be able to dedicate a glowing white rose with a personal message of love and hope. 

For a minimum donation of £20, your rose will become part of this inspiring installation, helping to create a collective tribute while supporting life-changing cancer care, treatment and research. 

Every rose dedication includes:

  • A personalised message of love, hope or remembrance

  • A glowing white rose displayed in the Garden of Hope

  • A commemorative Christmas tree decoration to take home as a lasting keepsake

As the number of roses is limited, we recommend registering your interest to be among the first to hear when dedications become available.

Rose dedications will open in mid-September. We recommend completing the short enquiry form above to be among the first to hear when bookings open. We'll email everyone who has registered their interest as soon as rose dedications become available.

Yes. You're welcome to dedicate as many roses as you'd like, with each dedication carrying its own personal message. We ask for a minimum donation of £20 per rose dedication.

If you need to amend your dedication before the installation opens, please contact us as soon as possible. We'll do our best to help, although we can't guarantee changes.

You can still dedicate a rose online. If you're unable to visit, our team can write and place your dedication on your behalf.

If roses are still available, you'll be able to make a dedication on site. However, numbers are limited, so we recommend pre-ordering to avoid disappointment.

The roses displayed in the Garden of Hope are part of the installation and will remain on site for the duration of the event. As they are carefully reused each year, we aren't able to give them to supporters to take home.

As a thank you for your dedication, you'll receive a commemorative Christmas tree decoration to keep as a lasting reminder of your tribute.

We kindly ask that all dedication plaques remain with their rose for the duration of the installation so that every visitor can enjoy the full display.

If you'd like to keep your plaque, you're welcome to collect it on the final day of the installation. Unfortunately, we're unable to post plaques after the event.

Any plaques not collected will be responsibly recycled.

If you've purchased your rose online and chosen to handwrite your dedication at the Garden of Hope, simply visit between 5 and 18 December and show your confirmation email to a member of the team.

Because of the large number of rose dedications, we're unable to identify or locate individual roses once they have been placed in the installation.

If you'd like to know exactly where your dedication is, we recommend choosing to write your message during your visit. You'll then be able to place your dedication next to a rose yourself and remember its location.
