Pete and Angie Thompson, Christie supporters

Angie is including a gift in her Will to The Christie Charity as a dedication to her late husband, Pete, and as a thank you to all the staff at The Christie hospital.

“My husband Pete was a Christie patient for 2 and a half years before he sadly died towards the end of 2025. Having recently updated my Will, I know Pete would be really, really happy with what I’ve done. It’s a gift in my Will, but it’s Pete’s legacy.

“Pete had such good treatment at The Christie. The Christie are like family to us. They made us feel loved. The Christie staff helped us go through the most difficult time in our 50 years of marriage.

“Pete loved the outdoors. He enjoyed sports – squash and football were his favourite – and he became a dedicated long-distance walker in his retirement, completing over 400 miles along the Cornish Coast Path. He was a positive person, who never gave up.

“The Christie are a fabulous lot - the nurses, consultants, cleaning team, the canteen staff – everyone. Walking through that long glass corridor always felt full of smiles, with the warmth of Christie staff and those beautiful gardens.

“The legacy gift from Pete and me is in recognition of the happy, hopeful Christie crew who work so hard, keep smiling, and show such kindness.”
