Better Care. Better Careers
We encourage and support specialty tutors, educational and clinical supervisors to provide a positive learning environment for all trainees, from undergraduate medical students and foundation doctors through to newly qualified consultants and SAS doctors.
What does Postgraduate Education at The Christie Institute look like?
Our Medical Education service provides high-quality, structured and compassionate support for doctors at all points of their training journey — from medical students taking their first clinical steps to experienced clinicians building advanced skills and progressing into educator roles.
We work closely with clinical teams, Higher Education Institutions and national partners to ensure every doctor has access to exceptional education, supervision and development opportunities rooted in the realities of modern cancer care.
Doctors in training (Foundation, IMT, Specialty)
Each academic year, our doctors in training are welcomed with comprehensive induction and rotational support. We ensure training posts meet curriculum requirements, offer robust clinical and educational supervision, and give trainees the confidence and skills to progress within oncology.
SAS doctors (Specialty and Specialist)
Our SAS workforce receives dedicated support for their continuing professional development, career progression and access to educational opportunities that strengthen their role within our multidisciplinary teams.
Consultants and SAS doctors seeking GMC Trainer Accreditation
We provide tailored development pathways for consultants and SAS colleagues preparing for GMC Trainer status. This includes training, guidance and mentorship to ensure high-quality educational and clinical supervision across the organisation.
Fellows (trust grade and locally employed doctors)
Our fellowship programmes support doctors from the UK and across the world, helping them build specialist oncology experience through structured teaching, mentorship and peer learning. This international approach strengthens our workforce model and helps doctors develop the expertise needed to deliver excellent cancer care, wherever they practise.
Our team
Our Medical Education team brings together clinicians, educators and administrators who are passionate about supporting the medical workforce and nurturing the next generation of oncology professionals.
