Overview
This advanced programme is designed to support experienced educators and clinicians in developing the knowledge, confidence and facilitation skills required to deliver high-quality communication skills training.
Delivered by expert Maguire facilitators with extensive experience in healthcare communication education, the programme combines evidence-based teaching methods with experiential learning. Participants will work with professional actors in small-group role-play scenarios to practise advanced facilitation techniques and refine their ability to guide meaningful communication learning.
The course focuses on strengthening the capability of trainers to deliver effective communication skills workshops while maintaining fidelity to established, evidence-based frameworks. By developing skilled trainers, the programme contributes to a more confident workforce and supports improvements in team communication across healthcare settings.

What to expect
This blended learning programme combines flexible online study with intensive in-person training. Participants will engage in interactive teaching sessions, guided discussion, and simulated scenarios supported by trained actors.

- Practise supporting learners through challenging clinical conversations
- Explore strategies for managing interpersonal conflict within healthcare teams

Learning activities include online sessions, reflective practice and small-group experiential exercises designed to mirror real teaching environments.

Who is it for?
Participants must:
- Already facilitate communication skills training
- Have completed an Advanced Communication Skills Training course within the last 5 years or hold an equivalent qualification (e.g. MSc module or counselling qualification)
- Commit to approximately 20 hours of online study over 3 to 4 months
- Attend a three-day in-person workshop in Manchester
- Typically suitable for band 6/7 healthcare professionals and above who deliver or support communication skills education.
