ALKnowledge shortlisted for Greater Manchester Cancer Awards 2026

ALKnowledge has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Educational Impact category at the Greater Manchester Cancer Awards 2026, recognising the impact of this collaborative learning platform.

The free, interactive resource supports patients and healthcare professionals to better understand ALK-positive (ALK+) lung cancer, a relatively rare form of non-small cell lung cancer that often affects people who have never smoked.

It brings together collaboration from The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, The Christie Institute for Cancer Education and partners across Greater Manchester, and has been shaped by insights from patients through the ALK Positive Lung Cancer Charity.

The Christie Institute for Cancer Education’s Digital Learning Team played a key role in shaping the educational design and development. The team specialises in creating flexible, accessible digital education that supports healthcare professionals in applying learning to practice.

The resource features video, interactive learning and knowledge checks presented in a concise FAQ format. The web-based platform was developed by Cornerstone.

Dr Fabio Gomes, Consultant Medical Oncologist, who led the project, said: “We’re thrilled that ALKnowledge has been shortlisted for a Greater Manchester Cancer Award. This recognition highlights the power of true collaboration, between healthcare professionals, patients, educators and digital innovators. Together, we’re driving earlier recognition, better-informed conversations, and more equitable outcomes for people with ALK+ lung cancer.”

The awards ceremony will take place on 12 May 2026.
