Biological Basis of Cancer Therapy Part A: Molecular Biology, Chemotherapy and Pharmacology incorporating RCR FRCR 1 syllabus

Monday 10 to Friday 14 November 2025 - Hybrid (The Christie Institute for Cancer Education Centre auditorium/Zoom)

The Cancer Studies Research Group based at The Christie School of Oncology and Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute play a major role in allowing specialist registrars in clinical and medical oncology to fulfil the academic side of their training.

This programme is run as a 5-day lecture series and includes examination practice sessions. Monday to Wednesday will focus on molecular biology and immunotherapy, and Thursday and Friday will cover pharmacology and chemotherapy.

Low-to-Middle-Income Country (LMIC) course fees are offered at a 50% reduction. Countries eligible for LMIC reduced rate can be found on The World Bank website. Countries listed under the headings "Low-Income Economies" and Lower-Middle-Income Economies" will be considered.

Target audience

The teaching is designed for trainee medical and clinical oncologists and incorporates the FRCR part 1 syllabus including candidates for the Royal College FRCR part 1 examinations.

The course covers FRCR part 1 examinations as part of the RCR syllabus.

Teaching method

The teaching will be held in hybrid format - both at The Christie Institute for Cancer Education Centre auditorium and on Zoom. Please ensure you select the correct option on Eventbrite booking.

For those who have selected to attend the lectures virtually, Zoom links will be emailed to all candidates upon registration.

Lectures and multiple-choice question sessions will be recorded and available to all candidates post-event until 30 September 2025 in line with the RCR FRCR 1 Spring and Autumn 2025 examinations.
