Will you help bring more world-leading cancer research experts to The Christie?
With support from the charity and our partners, The Christie has been able to attract some of the very best cancer research experts from across the world to help take our research to the next level.
How donations have helped our research so far
In fact, in our last Exceptional Minds campaign last year, your donations helped us to bring some amazing specialists to The Christie. Experts like Professor Silke Gillessen, a specialist in genitourinary cancers, which includes testicular, penile and prostate cancers, as well as cancers of the bladder and kidneys. However, her main focus is prostate cancer.
“I had been considering a move to a leadership position in several places worldwide, but the Manchester team and the reputation of The Christie became very attractive. The research here is so strong. There’s a great connection between lab and clinic.”

We’ve already made great strides in cancer research in recent years, thanks to people like Professor Karen Kirkby who leads our proton beam therapy research and renowned clinician-scientist Professor Robert Bristow, director of the Manchester Cancer Research Centre (MCRC).
But there's so much more we can do.

Support for research going forwards
Strengthening our research capabilities will increase the choices available to Christie patients, with more opportunities to access clinical trials and personalised treatments. This will ultimately help to increase survival rates and reduce the side effects of cancer treatments.
If you would like to help bring more of the world's leading cancer experts to The Christie, please donate to our 2019 appeal today.
