After being successfully treated over the course of several years at The Christie by Dr Saunders and his team, Geoff Nicholls decided he wanted to take on Snowdon to raise money for the department that helped to save his life.
Geoff and his team of walkers braved the elements in wet and windy conditions with their ‘2gether walk’, which included an English team and Welsh team working alongside one another to fundraise for two different causes; the other being Awyr Las, a Welsh charity that supports Gwynedd Hospital where Geoff’s father was treated before he sadly passed away in 2016.
Using various ideas, including setting up a Facebook page for their Christie mascot ‘Scottie’, putting collection tins around local businesses, as well as organising a raffle using donated prizes, Geoff and his wife Heather have put an incredible effort into their fundraising.
As a result of their determination to raise awareness of The Christie and their passion for engaging others in their fundraising efforts, they have managed to reach a grand total of just under £4400 for the Colorectal Research Fund. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Geoff and Heather, along with their family and friends for all their hard work and commitment in raising such a fantastic amount.
