Paul and Andrea Young, Christie fundraisers

This month, we're putting Paul and Andrea Young in our fundraiser hall of fame.

Paul has been fundraising for The Christie charity for over 5 years. His fundraising work started when Andrea was treated at The Christie. The couple wanted to give something back in recognition of the marvellous treatment Andrea received.

The fundraising events that Paul and Andrea have held include 4 disco evenings at Garswood Labour Club in Wigan. They invite along friends and relatives, who all willingly contribute to the raffles and auctions on the evening.

Paul says the events are always well attended. The last event they held in November 2019 was the best one yet, raising over £7,100, with a friend even agreeing to shave his head to raise money for The Christie charity.

We would like to say a big thanks to Paul and Andrea for raising over £16,000 for The Christie charity.

Paul said: "I have also been actively involved with other local fundraising groups during this time who support The Christie and have presented cheques to the hospital on their behalf.

"Although organising our own function can be quite demanding and time-consuming, we are well aware that we are providing funds for an organisation which provides outstanding care and support, whilst giving hope to many thousands of people.

"And that, for us, makes all our efforts so worthwhile.
