Nantwich Christie Hospital Support Group, Christie fundraisers
The first Hall of Fame winner for 2021 is the Nantwich Christie Hospital Support Group. Despite all the challenges of 2020, the group managed to raise an incredible £20,000!
The group are long term supporters of The Christie charity. They started back in 1993, when chairwoman Sarah Darlington’s father was a patient of The Christie. Since then, the group have gone from strength to strength, raising over £470,000 for The Christie charity.
As with many fundraisers, the group’s planned events for 2020 were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But thankfully, the generosity of their friends and supporters helped them through this time, enabling them to raise the money they donated.
The Nantwich Christie Hospital Support Group had to get creative with their fundraising, taking donations from a variety of activities.
These included their Grand Christmas Draw which raised £5,750, The Dab of Soul DJs donated £2,500 from the sale of their soul CDs and £750 from people who had already paid for Easter Egg Bingo tickets. Another £600 was raised at Lowe’s Farm shop Reindeer Weekend and £500 was raised from The Crown Christie Crusaders, plus a range of other fundraising initiatives.
“2020 was such a difficult year for charity fundraising and having to cancel our events was so disappointing. But despite the challenges we were thrilled to be able to raise just over £20,000!
“This was due to a lot more Facebook posts and online activities, in particular a fantastic response to our Grand Christmas Draw from both local businesses and the amazing people of Crewe and Nantwich.
“We look forward to seeing everyone face to face in 2021!’
