Kenmure Melville, Christie fundraiser

February 2020

This month, we’re putting Kenmure Melville in our fundraiser hall of fame for taking on an impressive fundraising challenge.

Over the course of 12 days, Ken conquered just over 234 kilometres on foot. He started in Bruges and ended in his home town of Alderley Edge, walking on average around 20km per day.

Ken took on his fair share of challenges on the trek, singlehandedly navigating the route whilst facing the full force of both storm Ciara and storm Dennis.

Having tackled these blustery conditions, Ken called into talk radio station LBC to talk about his challenge. LBC gave him a shout out on the radio and helped to promote his JustGiving page to a wider audience.

He also provided daily updates for his supporters on his page, keeping them engaged with interesting facts about the various places he passed along the way.

Ken was inspired to fundraise for The Christie by a friend who is another of our fabulous supporters:

"He spoke of the good work that is done and encouraged me to consider The Christie. I am pleased to say the decision was supported by enthusiastic comments from many donors, many of whom have some kind of connection to the hospital."

As a result of Ken's hard work, he has raised just under a fantastic £2,900 for The Christie so far.

Thanks to Ken for continuing on with the trek in such challenging conditions - we think you're amazing!
