Fundraiser story - CATS Group

The Christie Appeal Tameside Section (CATS) group have been active fundraisers for The Christie since 1998 and have raised over £470,000 through a variety of events and initiatives from annual fun runs to selling The Christie Christmas cards and numerous successful collections.

In 2016, CATS directed all their fundraising towards The Christie charity’s capital development project for the Integrated Procedures Unit (IPU).

The new state-of-the-art unit brings five day-patient services together under one roof. It aims to offer patients a more seamless experience with shorter waiting times and speedier treatment.

Thousands of patients will all receive treatment in one place. This will mean less waiting for day-patients who need to see the Trust’s plastic surgery, endoscopy, radiology, pain management or day case procedures teams.

The IPU will give patients better access to the latest treatments and medical procedures developed at The Christie. It will also have longer opening hours, so patients can come either before or after work to suit their personal needs.

Carol Aikin, Maureen Bradbury and Janet Mackinnon from the group joined us in March as we acknowledged their support with a sneak peek inside the new IPU Unit before the official opening later this month.

The Christie charity are thankful to CATS and all our supporters who came together to do it for The Christie enabling us to raise £4.99million for this fantastic new unit.
