Josh Holt, Christie fundraiser
Josh Holt is supporting The Christie to say thanks for treating his mum Tracy for breast cancer. Josh said that when Tracy had her first round of treatment, she wouldn’t have been able to get through this without The Christie’s support.
Although Tracy’s cancer went into remission, it unfortunately came back after 2 years. This was a horrendous shock to Tracy, Josh and all the family. This time around, Tracy’s cancer was stage 4 – it couldn’t be cured, only managed with medication.
The medication treatment from The Christie gave Tracy a few more wonderful years of life with her family and friends. Josh says that during this time, Tracy lived her life to the fullest, travelling the world and making the best memories with her greatest friends and family with her.
In September 2020, Tracy sadly died. Josh and the whole family were heartbroken and said that Tracy touched many people and was loved by all.
Before she died, Tracy and a group of friends would raise money for The Christie by doing the Walk of Hope event, a 10km walk in Tatton Park in honour and support of cancer patients. Tracy’s friends are continuing to do the Walk of Hope this year, and Josh says Tracy will be looking down over them.
Inspired by Tracy and her friends, Josh wanted to do something to raise money for The Christie himself. He decided to take on Tough Mudder North West 2021 with a group of friends who have all been touched by cancer.
Tough Mudder is a hard-core obstacle race held on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 September. It’s packed full of world-class obstacles, a unique sense of camaraderie and an atmosphere like no other.
By taking on Tough Mudder North West 2021, Josh is helping The Christie charity keep supporting cancer patients and their families.
“Selfless, inspirational, caring – just a few of many words I would use to describe my mum Tracy. In her last few months, The Christie hospital was so helpful. They had been amazing to us throughout Tracy’s battle and without them we wouldn’t have been able to do some of the great things we did during Tracy’s last few years.
“I just want to say thank you again to The Christie hospital for the amazing work they did and continue to provide to families who have been affected. We are so lucky to have such an amazing team on our doorstep.”
