John Harrop, Christie fundraiser
After a routine blood test in 2013, John received a diagnosis of prostate cancer. He had always been fit and well without any health issues, so the diagnosis came as quite a shock.
John had surgery to remove his prostate in February 2014. He was then referred to The Christie for 20 sessions of radiotherapy. As both of his parents had been treated at The Christie, John knew he was in safe hands.
After 6 years of monitoring, John was discharged from The Christie in 2019. He was really grateful to the hospital for his treatment and aftercare so he signed up to support The Christie with The Christie charity Weekly Lottery.
As well as helping to fund clinical trials, patient care and research at The Christie, John was thrilled to win £1,000 from The Christie charity Weekly Lottery in October 2020.
“Throughout my treatment and aftercare, The Christie was magnificent. But I already knew of their fantastic work because of the treatment my parents also went through there.
“Thanks to all the lovely staff, I am here to live another day and I am proud to support them by playing The Christie Lottery.”
