Claire Bulcock, Christie supporter

Claire has been a supporter of The Christie since her mum and grandmother received treatment at the hospital. Although both her mum and grandmother sadly died, Claire was always grateful for The Christie’s support from their diagnosis right through until their final moments.

During lockdown, Claire has been tirelessly fundraising for The Christie charity. Recently, she ran 26.2 miles on her birthday, running each mile with 26 different people.  This event has brought her fundraising total up to over £4,000!

After Claire signed up for the London Marathon in support of Team Christie, the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions meant the event had to be cancelled. To make sure everyone’s training didn’t go to waste, the London Marathon organisers planned the first ever Virtual London Marathon.

On October 4, Claire will be running in the Virtual London Marathon event memory of her mum and grandmother. She wants to say thanks to The Christie for supporting her and her family through some of their darkest of days.

“We will be forever thankful for everything that The Christie did for mum – the love, respect and professionalism that they showed to her whilst she was in the critical care unit will never be forgotten.
“We would hope that if anyone were to ever to find themselves in a similar situation to what we unfortunately did, that the support and professionalism demonstrated by all at The Christie would be the same.
“This is why we feel so strongly in trying to help in whatever ways we can for this invaluable cause.”

We would like to say a huge thank you to Claire for her continued support, and we will be cheering for her on 4 October!
