Ailsa McDonagh, Christie patient
This April, Ailsa McDonagh is taking on the 2.6 Challenge in support of The Christie charity. Ailsa is a patient of The Christie and she wants to help other cancer patients at this difficult time.
A mum of two, Ailsa was diagnosed with bowel cancer just less than 5 years ago. She was referred to The Christie and has been treated for the past 3 years by the peritoneal tumour service.
For the 2.6 Challenge, Ailsa is doing a 6-day workout with her friend Helen. Starting on 26 April, Ailsa will be cycling 6 miles every day on setting 6 of her exercise bike. Helen will be running 2.6 miles a day on a gradient of 6 on her treadmill.
Ailsa said: “The care I have had at the Christie has been second to none. The support I received when I was an inpatient and now that I am at home is invaluable.”
With her and Helen’s challenge, Ailsa wants to support all of the cancer patients affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. She’s hoping that any money she can raise through her efforts will support vital services for all cancer patients.
If you want to challenge yourself for The Christie, take on the 2.6 Challenge this April!
