We are delighted to announce that The Christie charity has been selected to participate in the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2021, the UK’s largest match funding campaign. Last year, the campaign raised over £20 million for participating charities thanks to generous supporters.

This Christmas, The Christie charity will be raising funds for The Christie at Macclesfield. Contributing to this challenge will mean that we will be able to transform cancer care in East Cheshire. The Christie at Macclesfield will bring The Christie closer to home for more than 1,500 existing Christie patients a year. The ambitious new centre will bring together essential cancer services into one purpose-built building.

Many patients from Macclesfield and beyond can spend hours travelling for treatment to The Christie. For radiotherapy, in particular, patients may have to visit The Christie every day for up to 6 weeks. For those patients who live furthest away, coming to The Christie can mean a journey time of 2 hours or more. This puts tremendous pressure on them and their families at a time when they are already dealing with the emotional stress of a cancer diagnosis.

You can read more about our Macclesfield project on The Christie at Macclesfield campaign page.

We are hoping to raise £90,000 for The Christie at Macclesfield and this has been made possible by our supporters making a pledge to the campaign. Special thanks goes to Seddon and The Julia and Hans Rausing Trust for their support with this campaign.

Donations to this project will be matched for 7 days from 12pm on 30 November 2021. Getting involved in this challenge means you can make one donation and have twice the impact.

What happens during The Big Give Christmas Challenge for The Christie?

Donations made to our project via theBigGive.org.uk will be doubled during the campaign. If you would like to support The Christie at Macclesfield this year, we highly recommend doing so during the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2021.

By donating via the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2021, your donation to us will be doubled and make even more of a difference to cancer patients in East Cheshire.

What do I need to do?

Please note: the donate button will appear on the campaign page when the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2021 launches at 12pm on 30 November 2021.
