Staff at Pesto at The Davenport Arms in Marton have voted to make The Christie at Macclesfield appeal their charity of the year. The first fundraising event they are doing will be a summer party held on Sunday 25th August from 12pm – 8pm.

The summer party will take place inside the restaurant and also use the beer garden and a neighbouring field. There will be carnival games, a hog roast, pop up bar and charity raffle.

The local fire service has also been invited along with a fire engine and one of the areas brass bands will also perform. Other community groups will also be invited.

The star attraction will be a performance by Belle Voci – a female classical duo with a modern twist who reached the finals of The Voice UK in 2018. Belle Voci’s Emily and Sophie are both from Cheshire.

Staff at Pesto at The Davenport Arms in Marton chose to support The Christie at Macclesfield appeal because it is a local project that will benefit the local area and because several employees have had relatives receive treatment at The Christie.

Paul Drain, newly appointed General Manager is managing the project and the event. He said: “We have a whole host of great activities for all the family – from traditional carnival games and meet and greet with costumed characters from The Avengers, to a hog roast and pop-up bars. We have been touched at the response from our local community”.

Christie charity fundraiser Louise Dawson added: “Paul Drain and the team at Pesto at The Davenport Arms are planning a wonderful event with some fabulous entertainment. This is a great way to help fundraise for The Christie at Macclesfield project and we are looking forward to working with the staff there to do more fundraising over the next 12 months.”
