Plans for The Christie proton beam therapy centre

In October 2014 Manchester City Council approved planning permission for The Christie Proton Beam Therapy Centre to be built.

The construction of the centre is being funded by the Department of Health and will be one of only two high energy NHS proton beam therapy centres, the other being built at University College London Hospitals.

The four storey building, which is being built by Interserve Construction on Oak Road, will also provide additional clinical space to improve and enhance the services already provided by The Christie.

The building will be accessed from Oak Road and linked to the main hospital through a new glazed walkway.

The Centre is due to open in 2018.
