This section provides you with an overview of timelines.
For those patients having radiotherapy, the planning process includes 3 appointments before starting treatment:
- MRI scan
- a visit to the mould room where a mask is prepared for treatment and a CT scan
- an appointment with the doctor to explain treatment and gain your consent.
This process usually takes 2 to 4 weeks. For those patients receiving chemotherapy at this point, a blood test is done at one of the appointments and the chemotherapy tablets will be prescribed.
Patients receiving chemotherapy alone will attend an appointment at The Christie to have a blood test which is reviewed by the doctor before the chemotherapy is prescribed.
