CPOC team shortlisted for CRUK Accelerator award

Professor Sarah O’Dwyer and Mr Omer Aziz from The Christie Colorectal and Peritoneal Oncology Centre have joined with Mr. Marcello Deraco, from Fondazione IRCCS - Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan, Italy to build a multicentric cohort of pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) cases in order to better understand its biology and to validate potential new therapeutic targets.

The prestigious Cancer Research UK Accelerator Award enables translational research by funding cross-institutional teams to produce tools, platforms and resources that aim to transform the research landscape. It is open to senior researchers at centres in the UK, Spain and Italy. The team  will receive £5,000 in seed funding to further develop their proposals, and help to find collaborators, before submitting a fully costed application in May. To date, the scheme has funded 14 projects and provided approximately £60 million of funding.
