Mason Kettley was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour in October 2018. He was referred for proton beam therapy and became one of the first patients to be treated at the proton beam therapy centre at The Christie. The £125 million centre opened in late 2018, making it the first high energy NHS proton beam therapy centre in the UK.
At the time, Mason said: “I’m nervous about what is going to happen, but I’m also excited to start this treatment.”
After 28 sessions of proton beam therapy, Mason completed his treatment. He got to ring the end of treatment bell in March 2019, signifying a successful end to his proton beam therapy.
