The Christie at Oldham was the first in a unique network of Christie radiotherapy centres, where patients can access first class radiotherapy treatment from experts, but much closer to home. The Christie at Oldham opened its door in 2010, housing two state of the art Elekta linear accelerators and Philips CT scanner to plan and deliver highly complex radiotherapy treatment to approximately 80-120 patients a day. The centre is now also home to some Christie outpatient clinics which were previously held within the Royal Oldham Hospital.
Patients with various types of cancers can attend the Christie at Oldham for their radiotherapy treatment where there is a dedicated team of radiographers, medical and support teams to ensure treatment plans run smoothly. The centre uses the same equipment, clinical protocols and management structure as the Christie in Withington.
The Christie at Oldham is located on Rochdale Road, near to the main entrance of the Royal Oldham hospital. Local patients from Bury, Middleton, north Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale and parts of Tameside are treated at this centre, however if you feel it is closer for you to access this centre from your home please enquire from your clinician as to whether your radiotherapy can be delivered at Oldham. Some patients with more rare and complex cancers are however treated at our main Withington site in South Manchester.
