Professional biography
Dr McPartlin graduated with Honours from the University of Manchester in 2006. Following core medical training, he completed specialist training in Clinical Oncology between 2011- 2017.
From 2014-2016, he undertook a research MD investigating advanced radiotherapy techniques, including the role of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in treatment delivery. During this time, he spent 18 months learning advanced radiotherapy techniques as a research fellow at The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, and was awarded the RE Bush Research Prize for his academic output. He has expertise and has published on the use of stereotactic radiotherapy for both primary and oligometastatic disease. He is trained in the use of proton beam therapy for head and neck malignancy, having spent time training at University of Pennsylvania in 2017.
Dr McPartlin was appointed in 2017 as Consultant Clinical Oncologist with a specialist interest in skin and head and neck malignancies. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester having published on a range of topics and is active in clinical research. His particular research interest is technical radiotherapy, including the use of MRI in head and neck radiotherapy.
