Dr Lee graduated from University of Melbourne, Australia in 1997, after which he started his general medical training in the UK. Dr Lee started working in oncology in The Christie in 2000, after completing his postgraduate medical diploma (MRCP).
During the training course at The Christie, he also visited the MD Anderson cancer centre, William Beaumont Hospital and the Maryland Proton Treatment Centre in the USA to develop further specific technical skills in intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR) and protons.
Dr Lee is one of the clinical leads who developed stereotactic lung radiotherapy for lung cancer for the first time in the North West and proton therapy in head and neck patients. He is involved with new developments in volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) for head and neck and lung cancers.
He was also on the examination panel for Royal College of Radiologists, UK and Manchester medical school, and was the previous Training Programme Director for the oncology training in the North West Region and previously the radiotherapy governance and quality lead.
He is currently the clinical director for clinical oncology and radiotherapy services.
Intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) treatment for head and neck cancer, image guided radiotherapy (IGRT). Proton therapy for head and neck cancers. Novel targeted agents for head and neck cancer including monoclonal antibodies, immunomodulators, immunotherapy and live virus.
