Responsibilities

  • Radiotherapy and chemotherapy for lung cancer; stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) for lung cancer; Dr Bayman is also involved in complex radiotherapy treatment and is clinical lead for radiotherapy quality assurance.

Professional biography

Dr Bayman graduated from the University of Manchester and trained as a Clinical Oncologist in Manchester. His primary speciality is lung cancer with a particular interest in combined treatment therapy and the development of advanced radiotherapy, including SABR for treating lung cancers. He is highly committed to research, and is a core collaborator on combined modality therapy trials in non-small cell lung cancer and small cell lung cancer, and lung cancer radiotherapy trials. He leads on the recently funded PIT trial, a phase III study aiming to establish the role of prophylactic irradiation of portal tracts in patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma. Dr Bayman is Clinical Director of the Manchester Cancer Lung Pathway, leading the Lung Cancer Pathway Board to implement changes aiming to improve clinical outcomes and patient experience for lung cancer patients in Greater Manchester. He represents Greater Manchester on the NHS England Lung Cancer Clinical Reference Group.

Research Interest

Dr Bayman holds weekly lung radiotherapy clinics; he is co-chief investigator on a trial into a specialised form of radiotherapy for mesothelioma known as PIT and is co-investigator for several further lung radiotherapy trials.

Educational Interests

Dr Bayman supervises a year 4 project option student, delivers undergraduate teaching at radiotherapy and outpatient sessions, holds regular teaching sessions for higher specialist trainees and is an examiner for an FRCR mock exam.
