Saturday 22 April 2023, 1pm to 6pm and Sunday 23 April 2023, 9.30am to 5pm - classroom
Course tutors: Anita Mehrez and Sarah Wilkins
This 2-day course is designed for massage therapists who want to expand their skills in massage therapy, enabling them to work safely and effectively with people with cancer and/or other complex/life-threatening conditions.
We will explore safe and creative ways of adapting massage therapy whilst gaining an understanding of the rationale for adapted work for clients at all stages of a cancer journey, whether on active treatment, living beyond, or alongside supportive and end of life care. As a teaching team, we are committed to providing a knowledge base that can be contextualised to suit a variety of different environments.
We take a zero-strain approach to massage with touch-based sessions that will allow you to build your confidence working with and without oil, through both practitioner and client experience.
Our tutors have a combined 25 plus years of experience working with patients at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and other cancer and supportive care settings, as well as extensive therapeutic experience in other areas within healthcare, charity and private sectors.
