The Christie to host nurse recruitment day

Press release posted 18 October 2016

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, Manchester’s specialist cancer centre, is hosting its latest recruitment day for nurses this weekend.

The Trust currently has a number of nursing opportunities available across a range of areas and interests and the recruitment day will give people the opportunity to find out more about working for The Christie.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to visit the hospital in Withington on Saturday, 22nd October to meet staff and have a tour of the facilities, browse stalls showcasing the hospital’s services, and, following interviews, they could even be offered a job by the end of the day.

The day is aimed at staff and newly qualified nurses. There are also some new clinical research nurse roles available.

Pilar Delvallemartin, 26, from Manchester city centre, a Christie staff nurse who was appointed through the open day event last October said: “I knew The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres so I was very interested to come to the recruitment event last autumn. There was an amazing buzz that day with people queuing out of the hospital to be interviewed, so I was delighted when I was offered a job.

The nurse recruitment day was a great way to get a job at The Christie. If anyone else is thinking of applying this time round I would really encourage them – it’s a fantastic place to work.

Eve Lightfoot, acting director of workforce at The Christie, said: “This is an innovative way to attract new talent to The Christie. Candidates at our recruitment events really appreciate being able to visit the hospital to get a feel for what we are about and the work we do. We have recruited some great nursing staff and hope we will be equally successful again.”
