Julie Wilson, chemotherapy scheduler
Julie Wilson is our May 2021 You Made a Difference award winner. Judges identified Julie as a very deserving winner and said that the comments made about her showed how she represents The Christie principles and behaviours.
“Julie is part of the clinical trials unit. Her job title is chemotherapy scheduler but there is more to what Julie does than this description suggests. I see her as an ambassador for the department, the front face of the trials unit. She ensures things run smoothly, while being the first person that I meet on arrival and the last one before home time.
“Julie has a way of making patients feel like they are the most important person in the hospital. Last time, I saw her we talked for around 30 minutes and she made a difference to my care last Wednesday and Thursday.”
- John Beaumont, patient
“Julie first came to the Trust on 13 November 2017. She is an essential part of the team – she is ‘front-of-house’ welcoming and directing people who may be anxious or stressed. She is always very welcoming, calm and knowledgeable. She also manages the scheduling of appointments and is extremely efficient making life easier for both patients and staff.
“Julie is so kind-hearted and always goes above and beyond her duties to give patients a more pleasant stay during their day here. She always goes out her way to help other members of her team – nothing is too much trouble for Julie.
“I do believe Julie was nominated for her lovely kind-hearted approach to everyone and her hard work she puts in every day. Julie is really a pleasure to work with.
“Julie likes to go on long walks and loves going to the cinema.”
- Maxine Neille, assistant service manager, systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) services
